"I
want my work to express the complexity and intensity of life as I
feel it. I would like my art to open people's eyes to the textures
and meaning of our lives"....Gia Revazi
At the age of 22 Gia Revazi graduated from the
Tbilisi Academy of Fine Art majoring in Industrial Design. For more
than 25 years now he has worked as both a professional painter and
stage designer. He has executed numerous murals, sculptures and wall
designs working in the position of television designer. He has also
illustrated various books and exhibited his work in galleries
throughout Europe and the United States working in primarily
figurative themes transcended by his expression of hope, beauty,
love and light.
"Technically", says Revazi, "I am
interested in the combination of opposites: figurative and abstract,
energetic surfaces with supremacist signs. The language in my art is
the language of poetry and I believe in poetry and color. The
principal focal point of my art is the fusion of space and time. I
wish people to experience various feelings when they encounter my
work. What gives me the pleasure of being an artist is that I can
control the harmony because I am the painter and I can control the
color, composition and form."
Revazi's work was recognized by Lika
Mamatsashvili, the curator of the Tbilisi Museum Art Gallery. Her
response to his work was intense, explaining that his work
"brings tranquility and peace to it's owner and
spectator." The museum purchased one of Revazi's paintings for
their permanent collection.
Other prominent collector's have shared their
personal feelings of Revazi's paintings as 'a gate to another world
where they can escape all their troubles and enter a world of
happiness, excitement and have a feeling of well being.' Or simply
put, one viewer commented, "It just makes me smile!"
Revazi paintings are now collected in galleries
throughout the United States and Europe and will be on exhibit this
summer in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan.
